FELLOWSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS, GRANTS, and AWARDS

The Fellowships Office supports high-achieving students in the application process to compete for nationally competitive merit-based fellowships, scholarships, grants, and awards. Outstanding students compete for opportunites to undertake an undergraduate or graduate study, research, or teaching experience, domestically or abroad. Recipients of these prestigious awards have achieved recognition of life-long significance.

To apply for the following fellowships, you must work with the Office of Undergraduate Studies.

Barry Goldwater Scholarship
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was established by Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers by awarding scholarships to college students who intend to pursue a career in research. US citizenship or permanent resident required. Apply sophomore or junior year. S&T internal deadline for review is December 1.

Fulbright US Student Program
The Fulbright US Student Program 
offers research, study and teaching opportunities in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. The Fulbright Program fosters bilateral relationships in which citizens and governments of other countries work with the US to set joint priorities and to meet shared needs. Applicants must have proficiency in the language of the host country to communicate and carry out the proposed study/research. US citizenship required. Can start application process in spring prior to senior year. S&T internal deadline for review is September 6.

Rhodes Scholarships
The Rhodes Scholars
are chosen for their outstanding scholarly achievements, character, commitment to others and to the common good, and for their leadership potential. The Rhodes Trust provides full financial support for Rhodes Scholars to study for two years at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. US citizenship required. May start application process in spring prior to senior year. S&T internal deadline for review is September 2.

Udall Scholarship
The Udall Foundation
is a federal agency, working to both strengthen the appreciation and stewardship of the environment, public lands, and natural resources and strengthen Native Nations to facilitate their self-determinantion, governance, and human capital goals. The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors who are committed to leadership, public service, and a career related to the environment, OR committed to a career in tribal public policy, OR Native American health care. Must be US citizen, US national, or US permanent resident. S&T internal deadline for review is February 1.
